Position Duties as Described in Our Bylaws
All positions described in the following text are direct quotes, including typos, from what is to the best of our knowledge our chapters most recent bylaws.

The President shall be the principal officer of this chapter and, subject to the oversight of the membership, shall lead, conduct and control all of the business and affairs of this organization and its officers and members, and shall carry out the policies set by the Chapter membership. The duties of the President shall include: to preside at all meetings of this chapter and conduct same in conformity with these Bylaws and the SEIU Local 925 Constitution and Bylaws.
The President shall confer with officers and perform other leadership responsibilities that are necessary to move the Chapter forward in its work and mission.

The Vice President shall be the second officer of this chapter and shall report to and assist the President in the operation of the Chapter.
The Vice President shall serve in place of the president in his/her (their) absence and shall assume the Presidency if the President is unable to complete his/her (their) term. In addition to the Vice President duties outlined above, the Vice President shall perform leadership responsibilities that are necessary to move the Chapter forward in its work and mission.
The Vice President shall serve as the Lead Steward.

The Communication Organizer shall keep a correct and impartial record of the proceedings of each chapter and the leadership bodies.
In addition to the Communications Organizer duties outlined above, the Communications Organizer shall presform leadership responsibilities that are nexessary to move the Chapter forward in its work and missio. All other duties may be assigned by the leadership body or membership or specified by these Bylwas and the SEID (SEIU) Local 925 Constitution and Bylaws.

The MPO shall be the Chapters representative to the Local in all matters of the political nature, including representing the Chapter at Local level public servant election interviews and Lobby Day in Olympia(.)
In addition to the MPO duties outlined above, the MPO shall perform executive level leadership responsibilities that are necessary to move the Chapter forward in its work and mission. All other duties as may be assigned bt the leadership body or membership or specified by these Bylaws and the SEID (SEIU) Local 925 Constitution and Bylaws.

Except as may be otherwise provided by these Bylaws, the Shop Stewards working with the SEIU 925 Member Resources Center (MRC) are authorized and empowered to represent any member of the chapter in any personnel meeting where the subject of such meeting may request representation, to represent members facing disciplinary action by King County and any member filing a grievance.

LMC members will serve a four year term. Two LMC positions will be open the summer of 2017. Thereafter every odd year two seats will be open for elections.

Worksite leader-One or more member in each worksite is responsible to communicate with members in your area about the union.

Authority of Chapter Negotiating Committees. The authority to bargain collectively for the chapter shall be vested in a Negotiating Committee, which shall consist of members elected from the chapter and a representative from the Local.
Ratification of Contracts by Chapter members.. The results of any collective bargaining negotiations shall be subject to ratification by the members in the Chapter. Upon ratification, a contract shall be signed by the Negotiating Committee.

(a) The Social Media Officer shall manage the chapter’s social media presence on all platforms approved by the Chapter leadership body or members.
(b) All social media accounts shall be operated in accordance with the SEIU Local 925 Social Media Community Guidelines and any additional guidelines to be established by the leadership body or members.
(c) In addition to the duties outlined above, the Officer shall perform leadership responsibilities that are necessary to move the Chapter forward in its work and mission. All other duties as may be assigned by the leadership body or membership or specified by these bylaws and the SEIU Local 925 Constitution and Bylaws.

Submit nominations for our upcoming fall 2024 elections!
Submissions must be made by and for dues paying members of SEIU Local 925 King County Parks Chapter.

Accepting Nominations
In order for a member to accept a nomination they must attend the Official Meeting for the month of November. At which all nominated, dues paying, members in good standing will be given the opportunity to accept or reject any nominations made in their name.
